Biography

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:

Selected by the Colts in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
First Missouri State player selected in the NFL Draft since 2011.

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS:

Appeared in 55 games (47 starts) at Missouri State (2016-21) and compiled 131 tackles (56 solo), 19.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two passes defensed, two blocked field goals and two blocked extra points.
Was named Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference twice in his career (2020, 2021).
Played in a school-record 55 consecutive games as a five-year starter.
Participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the 2021 Senior Bowl.

2021:

Started all 12 games and compiled 43 tackles (19 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two blocked extra points.
Earned Second Team All-MVFC honors.
Finished the season with 23 consecutive games played.

2020:

Started 10 games and registered 27 tackles (15 solo), 6.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal.
Earned Second Team All-MVFC honors.

2019:

Played in all 11 games (seven starts) and finished with 18 tackles (three solo).

2018:

Saw action in all 11 games (nine starts) and registered 25 tackles (13 solo), 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal.

2017:

Played in all 11 games (nine starts) and tallied 18 tackles (six solo), 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.

2016:

Redshirted as a true freshman.

PERSONAL:

Attended Plainfield South (Ill.) High School.
Compiled 29.0 tackles for loss and 17.0 sacks for the Cougars en route to earning his second straight all-conference recognition in 2015.
Successful wrestler, who finished second at the 2015 IHSA Class 3A state tournament and carried the top ranking in his weight class into his senior year.
Also lettered in track.
Participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and Senior Bowl.
His father, Eric Johnson, was an All-MVFC defensive lineman at Illinois State in 1996 and participated in training camp with the New York Jets in 1997. He played professionally in the CFL, XFL and indoor football league for 10 seasons.
His younger brother, Marcellus, is a rising redshirt senior offensive lineman at Eastern Michigan.
Born in Normal, Ill. and raised in Plainfield, Ill.
